gathering thoughts

Ever since purchasing my first laptop in a VERY long time, I’ve become a tad obsessed with the internet. Actually, ever since I started this blog I’ve become obsessed. I can’t get enough of gorgeously designed blogs, crazy ideas on photography and food and the large community of mummy bloggers there is out there. It really is becoming an integral part of our generation, blogging I mean. Call it what you want but it is opening my eyes more and more each day. Here are bits and bobs I found interesting over this past week. Have a look.

Food, let's play, on our island

shopping, eating, playing…ah, the life!

First, thank God papa convinced me to get an iPhone. I am on fire on Instagram – even if it is only for my 15 followers. Boohoo- and having so much fun documenting Georgie’s life even MORE! Over the past three days we’ve done more shopping than will ever be admitted, gawked over these super cool mini ducks, ate a delicious homemade organic beef bolognese, cottage cheese with canned pineapples- which are not as bad as I thought- and messed around with our jumbo pot of chalk. Aside from the chalk breaking into a gazillion pieces, I can’t really complain. Having great music in the background helped take off the edge.    oh and we also took our new pink pram for a walk……..

instagramming

I’ve become a huge fan of Instagram. I might be a bit ‘late’ discovering this amazing app but better late than never, right? With the help of special filters you can upload beautiful pictures, very 70s and very cool, for everyone to admire and take inspiration from.      I picked up this rocking babygro at the Werchter Festival and found it complimented my Smurf-coloured toenails, perfectly.    I would like to say: Look at my beautiful new maxi dress but I fear Tano and his new ‘haircut’ have stolen my thunder. Papa was supposed to drop him off before we left on our trip, for a shampoo and blowdry. Georgie’s godfather, who was kind enough to take Tano in while we were away, called me that night to tell me that he was convinced the girl at the pet store place gave him the wrong dog. He sent me a picture and papa got an earful. But if I’m being honest, i quite like it. No more long thick dog hairs and he seems happier and lighter.       Sushi delivery! It was a Friday ritual for months before Georgie was born and unfortunately it was never picked up again. Until this Friday when it was sushi and movies all the way.    Vintage-inspired postcards from Amsterdam.    An extract from John Holt’s Learning All The Time, an eye-opening book on how children learn by themselves how to read and write. I haven’t finished it yet.    A few months ago I discovered Goodbyn, a cute tupperware style lunch bag. So far I’ve taken it to the beach and the park, many times. Basically it’s perfect for snacks and a light lunch. I’m hoping it will come in handy when Georgie needs one for pre-school.

Food

snacks

When Georgie started eating healthier snacks, I felt a huge weight was lifted. I have always tried to give him the best, which, to me, means homemade and organic. Yet some days I feel all he’s eaten is biscuits, cornflakes and bread. But when I started taking pictures of products I use on a daily basis, I gave myself a pat on the back. Here are a couple taken through Instagram.     Berry yoghurt.   He absolutely loves tomatoes and cheese.      My little dude tried some hummus for the first time and just wouldn’t stop. I’m not a huge fan hence begin so late introducing him to it.     At least he’s eating, I tell myself…x

bringing sweetness and creativity to your day

I was so excited about figuring out Instagram yesterday, I completely forgot to explain what it is for those who are less tech-savvy than me- that means you mum! Instagram is a brilliant photo sharing app that boasts a number of filters for your photos so you can make them look really cool and old! Moving on, this morning I would like to post a link to one of my favourite blogs, bluebird vintage. Check out James and Aubrey’s wedding video. It is without a doubt one of the sweetest and most creative I have ever seen. part-three.html
